i have an 02 xe, im going to be moving from virginia to california in july, will be pulling an open motorcycle trailer and a harley that weighs about 700 pounds and the trailer is about 500 pounds. any problems doing that with a 4 cylinder? I know the book says it can handle up to 3000 pounds, but I'd like some feedback. Thanx

You shouldnt Ive done way more than that, but not for that long. It shouldnt be a problem as far as pulling wise just keep an eye on your gagues for significant temp changes.

My thoughts.  Change the trans fluid or oil (not sure what type of trans you have.  Also change the motor oil and filter as well as the rear end oil.  Never hurts to be cautious.  Your trip put a lot of strain on these parts and the fluids that protect them.

Truck is rated at 3500 pounds towing.  Can that be done with the factory bumper or do I have to add an aftermarket hitch?

danny here heres my thought I like to use a hitch over a bumper a little more room for error the hitch can set the trailer back 2- 3 inch from your truck as a nice piviot ponit. The bumper is strong but over time u could tweek it with many travels
