Had my third test drive today of a Frontier SE crew cab std bed 4x4 and am now more uncertain then ever.  I've test driven the Frontier three different times now (different trucks of  the same configuration at different dealerships) over the last couple of months, the first two times the truck was an '07 and today it was an '08 (no substantial changes in '08 model).  The first truck had a slight but noticeable hesitation when accelerating from a stop.  The hesitation was noticeable enough however to be a concern.  In every other respect the truck was fine.  The second truck I tried drove as nice as can be, I didn't notice any hesitation or steering problems.  The third truck ('08) had steering that had to be constantly corrected, not too bad on side streets but rather irritating on the highway.  For a highway trip of any length the steering would make for a very unhappy driver.  The person at the dealership said that the '08 I tested today had some type of wheel  package installed but I don't recall the specifics.  I think the package was just nicer looking wheels with lettered tires and that's about it.

Each test drive was on dry clear roads in fair weather, no snow or ice or salt or sand on the roads. Also the truck was driven in 4 x 2 mode for all but a very short distance.

Is the hesitation in the one truck and the wandering steering in the other just a quirk or are these known issues with Frontiers.  Do some just happen to have these problems and others don't?  I rather like this truck but these two issues concern me.
