Former Jeep guy here (86 CJ; I am new to Nissan), and I am looking at buying a new 4x4, and really like the new Frontier NISMO (except that is auto-trans only). But, I am concerned with the relatively small amount of aftermarket support for it. I think I might be better off going with the Xterra, but after reading these forums, it seems like the Xterra stuff is pretty much interchangable with the Frontier - am I correct?

My intent is to build a mildly modified daily driver - moderate lift, maybe run 33s, aftermarket bumpers, etc. I just don't want to paint myself into a corner if I decide to do more with it, even though I really prefer the versatility of having a truck bed. In your opinion, is the Frontier a good choice, or should I go with the Xterra Off-Road?

yes the 2 are very interchangable. if you do alot of off roading i would in your case buy a nismo modle. one thing i do not like however is you have to be in for low to lock the diff. there is a mod that can be done to solve that however. honestly i wish sometimes i had gone with the exterra. reason being its nice haveing a truck bed but as time goes on you will realise that with a crew cab you have no place to store things if its raining and you have 4 people with you unless you get a cover but im not a big fan other those. but on the other side its nice to load up a dirt bike or other thing and just go, rather that hooking up a trailer. the choise is up to you, they are both really nice vehicles and im sure you will be happy no matter what one you choose.
