I'm currently looking to buy a toy hauler so that we can get our Dual Sport bikes closer to the fun areas.

As such I would like to see what I should look out for given that the trailer is 4020lbs (dry) and comes to around 5500-5800lbs fully loaded with water, gas, bikes, etc.

We've got a 2006 Frontier NISMO that is listed with 6300lbs max. trailer weight.

Towing will involve getting from Denver, CO through the mountains.

Anything that should be done to the Frontier to assure proper long term health of the vechicle?

Welcome the the group. Been driving the Colorado mountains for the last 23 years. Here is one of the least adressed problems weather on the mountain trail or towing.

Many offroaders with automatic transmissions fail to remember the torque converter puts out a tremendous amount of heat when climbing steep grades. Then when descending the torque converter puts out a tremendous amount of heat when used for engine braking. Mounting a transmission oil ‘pre’ cooler in a location that will not dissipate its heat right back into the A/C and cooling system makes good sense to help keep engine operating temperatures lower. Look for places under the bed away from the exhaust.

If I'm not mistaken the NISMO V6 4x4 does already have a transmission oil cooler installed. At least that is what I assume when looking at the huge cooler installed right in front of the regular cooler.
