Hi all,

This is my first post - I did scan through the threads and could not find any problem similiar. Anyhow, I have an 07 Frontier - it has power locks with keyless entry. The truck has 10,000 KMs on it - in those 10,000Kms my wife or I have been either locked into the truck or out of it on 7 different occasions. I can not repeat any of these problems - it seems to happen randomly.

Locked In: 4 times - the doors are locked (i don't recall locking or not locking them) and both power lock switches will not work. You also can not move the mechanical switch. The only way to get out is roll the window down and put the key into the external lock and turn.

Locked Out: 3 times- One occasion I unlocked the doors with the keyless, opened the back door grabbed my cooler and laid the keys on the seat. The doors then locked on their own. 2 other occasion I started the vehicle and shut the doors - the vehicle the locked on its own. On the most recent occurence I was in the back country, cell phone in the truck, no one around for miles - I cringe but I had to take the window out. That was yesterday and I am severely ticked. The spare key will forever be taped to the chasis.

When this first started happening I thought I might of hit the lock button on the remote accidently. But this has happened way too many times in a short period to be the problem - and my wife also had it happen. The owners manual says there is a feature that is supposed to prevent the keys from being locked in the truck AND there is an auto lock feature. I am thinking this may be malfunctioning. I am bringing her to the dealer to get checked - I am hoping there's a chance they will cover the window. Afterall this should not be able to happen. My gut is they will not be able to find anything - I could not repeat it yesterday - and I tried very hard. This is my fist excurion with Nissan service department - hopefully it does not leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Anyhow - I have my doubts after reading the posts - but has anyone had a remotely similiar problem??? Does anyone have any insight on the problem?

To give an update.....

Dealer found problem with power locks. Corrosion in the acuator due to water causing the system to short and lock 'randomly'. THey are replacing under warranty.

I have been informed by both the dealer and then by Nissan Canada that the damaged cuased (~$700) by me getting into the truck is not covered - even though the root casue of everything was the faulty product. It is fair to say I am severely ticked off about this. As of Monday my rig is up for sale and I am washing my hands of Nissan.

..

raymondhann;

... Sorry to hear of the problem. I haven't seen the inside of a Nissan door but have seen inside many others. Most have a plastic sheet that prevent water draining from the window getting into the electronics. You would have to flood the vehicle or have the drain hole stopped up. I’m a Ham radio operator and have thought that RFI could interfere with the remote locking systems. If you can't dump that crumby Frontier you might try to disconnect the thing.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer!

This actually happened to me after about 1 month of ownership.  I highly doubt mine was "corroded".  Sounds like a line to me.  It hasn't happened again, but now I always have a window cracked or door open while the keys are inside.

I was locked inside, felt pretty silly.

Sorry to hear it happened to you, especially in the wild.

Sad but it does sound funny... We are lucky A. It has not happened to us... yet... and B. we can escape through our removeable stock sun-roof... but I  sure will not be laffing if it happens...

Have a good one :wink: and see you later.. Don S..
