Hi,

I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier XE Crew Cab 4wd with an original tire size of 265/70-15. I wanted a bigger tire to give it a more rugged look, it was suggested to put on 31X10.5-15 size tires. Has anyone done this and, if so, did they fit well (within the wheel well, etc ...)? Did you experience any problems?

Thanks

..

s2002h69;

The departure angle is a problem with the Frontiers. I run mild trails like Black Bear Pass in Colorado and only need a little lift but do need better departure angle. I cranked the T-bars 5/8th inch, added one inch blocks to the rear and BFG AT-KO 31x10.50x15 tires. The truck sets high in the back and gives a slightly better view of the jagged rocks on the trail in front! After looking at it I could see the departure angle still need help. I removed the rear bumper as it protruded out much farther than the bed. Then added the Cass III hitch to help protect the sheet metal and mount a tow hook.

This Frontier has done many mountain trails and passes in Colorado. The wife and I sleep in back once per trip.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer!

i put 31x10.50 bfg all terrains on my stock frontier with no problems at all
if you are looking for a more rugged look go for a mud terrain interco
makes great looking tires that dont cost too much and are reliable

It all depends upon what Interco you're going for.  Don't be too fooled, some of those are meant only for off-road.

Ok, thanks for the info.  So, if I went with a BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tire in a 31X10.5-15 size, I shouldn't have to make any modifications to the truck?
