From what I can see, the sliding bed extender should be able to serve the same purpose as the bed divider correct?  All that I want is the divider but if I can get the function of both buy buying the sliding extender then I will do that instead.

Thanks

The divider is less susceptible to casual theft.  The bed extender just lifts off of the track guides.  The divider rides in the rails and is much harder to get out.

X2 on what Boomer said. And yes you can use the sliding bed extender as a divider, but you should be careful about leaving it unattended in you bed.

I have both and use the regular divider most due to the slidding one being
to wide to flip with my rolbak cover installed. I prefered the sliding one nad
used it before I had the bed cover all the time with no trouble. I guess theft
can be a issue, but get a decent alarm with a shock sensor mounted on the
bed. I added one on with remote start and a remote lock for my tailgate.
Having the tailgate lock whenever I lock the truck is more secure and a
mecury switch in the tailgate and a shock sensor on the bed near the rear
makes it quite secure. If you don't have a cover go for the slider.   I will say
after some use both are a hassle to slide and you'll be less likely to move
them a lot.
