What would be a good replacement for the front and back shocks? I don't do
any hardcore driving, just normal to and fro...

that all depends on how much you want to spend on shocks i suppose, i replaced the fronts on my 01 CC SE, with Monroe Reflex shocks and have felt that they have done ok for me so far, they were about 45/per shock and i'll  probably be putting the same on the back end when it needs it.

Reflex shocks give a good ride but bware hitting a pothole while going through a tight curve.  The shocks jump to a "soft" setting and the corner of your truck will divce down and cause loss of control momentarily.  It can be a bit scary.  Better to me is a shock like the mid-grade Rancho 5000.

..

Gang;

I put Monroe Gas Magnums on my 5000 lb Dry weight ‘76 Wagoneer over twenty years ago and they are still great.

I put Monroe Sence-I-Tracs on our 95 3.3 4x4 HB KC and liked them.

I put Rancho 5000s on the rear of my wife’s ‘81 Wagoneer and they were no better than the 15 year old stock AMC shocks that they replaced. I felt I had wasted my money.

It's about time to replace the shocks on our '99 Frontier... 'Ain't' figured out what to get yet.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem.

Sorry to hear about your experience with the Ranchos.  I had them installed on a Chevy truck and they were some of the best shocks I ever had.  Very tight and they never changed their damping rate in the years I owned the vehicle.  I have also used Bilstein HD shocks monotube) on a Chevy truck.  These are great for towing and heavy loads and they too don't soften over time.  I am leery of the SensiTracs and others that change valving on impact.  Too many hooror stories abound on these for me ever to use them.
