So I've never had a 4 by 4 vehicle before - only RWD, FWD or AWD.  And, I'm a little confused on when I can use the 4 x 4 mode.

I was hoping to use it when the streets are wet in rain so that I don't fish-tail, but when I tried that the truck was jerking around like a stutter.  Someone later told me to only use the 4 by 4 mode in snow or on dirt roads.  Is this true?  I was really hoping to use it in th rain.

Yes that is true. 4x4 mode is for low traction situations. There will be a lot of binding (and possibly damage) if you try and turn the wheels in 4x4 mode when not in low traction situations like snow, mud, etc. My stock tires suck in the rain, and they are why I think my wet traction sucks. What you can do is throw a little weight in the bed over the axles or get some new tires. Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's are supposed to be an excellent tire.

..

... I only use 4x4 drive in very poor traction areas, not rain. When my stock BFG Long Trails got old they lost traction in the rain. I installed BFG AT- KOs like I have on my other 4x4s to solve that problem. They are good in the rain and they're good on the rocks.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem.
