I was looking at my truck the other day and noticed that I don't have a normal hitch. Either I'm a complete idiot or is the hole in the bumper for a hitch-ball all there is to it? Can the bumper actually support the claimed 5000 pounds of towing weight?

Please help!

You can put a hitch ball in that hole in the bumper, but it WILL NOT be able to tow the trucks max capacity. The bumper has a lower tow rating and it should list that rating in your owner's manual. You would need a bolt on tow hitch installed on your truck (Class 3 I believe) to tow the claimed 5000lb max.
