... The sound is a personal preference type thing. I used to have pipe set-ups that made noise. But I've since found that stealth is the smarter way to go.

... Now I’m not saying all the kids out there with ’purring’ pipes are stupid but why spend money to make extra noise to alert the cops to look around and see if you’re breaking any laws or not? The extra noise is like advertising to every one in hearing distance… “Hey every one .. It’s me and I know you all appreciate all the noise pollution that I’m contributing to”.

 Besides V-8s are the only things that sound good.

A Magnaflow or Gibson will also give you the sound you're looking for.

And a Frontier is about as much of a import as a Ford.  About the only vehicles you can call an "import" anymore is stuff like Jaguar, Volvo, Mazda, Lambos... etc.  The few companies that don't actually have a factory here in the states.  Ford and GM both use non-US parts in the vehicles. Heck, I don't think you can call Dodge a full blown US anymore.

Young sir I have the answer. 

once upon a time I owned a 2004 nissan frontier 4cyl.  Much like the one KCIDMIL so proudly displays.  Went to a performance shop and had a custom IMCO (international motor company) 2.25" steel exhaust installed.  IMCO muffler welded to a steel pipe.  This was a bad idea because steel will rust super fast and if your installer can't weld correctly or the grade of metal isn't up to the task then the welds break and you get yourself a wonderful nasting sounding leak.  this happened twice. 

You can have a flowmaster muffler welded to a pipe but it could still break.  Allow me to recommend a STAINLESS steel BOLT on exhaust system that attaches to your factory brackets.  This requires no welding, bending, or the risk of cracks, not to mention rust!  Want one?  www.4x4parts.com under performance.  Only thing is it costs like $500.  dude they are superior and you wont go wrong w/ it.  Why go w/ a lame steel exhaust when your truck ALREADY comes w/ a smaller diameter stainless one?

Got rid of my 04 front after going through 3 transmissions with in 38,000 miles.  Went back to the dealer and complained, they gave me an 07 XE.  So far no problems!  and for the record my friend, our trucks only have 154hp and 171torque.  They are slow, but economical.  Now somebody out there needs to design an INTAKE for the XE 05-07 frontier!!!!!!!

Sorry that i didn't reply when you wrote but just to answer your questions, my bro has got a 91 Hardbody, 4 cylinder. He just put on a 2 1/4 Magnaflow pipe on it. Like I mentioned before it added a decent sound to it.

I defintely like the Flowmaster that i got onto my truck. The sound is awesome, just a nice low rumble which was good because i was afraid of it sounding like rice burner especially after i listened to the Gibson sound tape on their website. I wasn't impressed by that at all. But the Flowmaster was a sweet surprise. I dont exactly know what type because i just went to a Master Muffler shop here in Utah and just told them that  i wanted a new exhuast. they Told me that my best bet was with the Flowmaster. Plus i know that with some shops they will actually let you listen to them before they are done installing them so that you can decide whether or not you want to keep with it.
