will a bad knock sensor affect fuel economy?

It can. When the ecu detects knock through the knock sensor it will automatically retard the timing. How do you know your sensor is bad.

scanned this morning, no codes.

don't understand the fuel economy on this truck. It's tuned up, a 2000 crew cab v6 auto 2wd. I baby it, never over 70mph. 50/50 city highway. only thing I can think of is maybe the 'winter gas'. it gets a consistent 16mpg.
