hope ya don't mind the new topic. just curious does anybody think a crew cab frontier, naturally asperated could get into the 15's in the 1/4? just curious. sometime this summer i plan on doing at least an intake on my 2000 frontier. maybe even a cat back exhaust. maybe headers? and maybe cams. doubt it on cams tho.

a supercharger would do it maybe.

using you 4x4 for the AWD launch then shifting out, somehow?  haha.

with the mods you stated, i'm estimating you'd gain 10hp. maybe.

or you may gain the 10hp back that you lost over time.

intake/exhaust, to me, is more about cool factor.   makes the motor look cool under the hood, makes it sound better when you step hard on it, etc.

those things do more if you do more sh*t to the motor like porting/cams/header + entire exhaust, intake porting, etc.

all that stuff might get your v6 over 200hp. but your best bet is a supercharger and all the supporting mods.

f**k it, wait till the motor blows and throw in a 350 ;).  i'm sure someone's figured out a way to do it.

This truck is way to heavy to do 15's na.  The sc might but who knows.  Intake, cams, and a real exhaust that eliminates the "y" will give you the best results.  Change the oils to synthetic couldn't hurt either.  I'm not completely sold on headers for an na vehicle, especially a truck, they tend to crack with all the vibrations.

FYI the Desert Runner's have the best power to weight ratio out of the available trims in the years they offered the DR, that is stock and the SC desert runner obviously more so

i was just curious on if anybody thought it could be done. i have an s10 with a 350 and this one is my daily driver pretty much. its a 2wd auto with like close to 40 thou on it. hardly broke in compaired to other 2000 frontiers. a standarded cab frontier with a supercharged v6 5 speed would prolly be the best way to go for going fast. just my opinion tho.

5spd with a really good clutch, lightened flywheel, mabey even an aluminum driveshaft.  shave off as much rotating mass as you can, then do some engine mods, and a nice set of street tires on lightweight rims.  Don't forget a locking rear end.  It can be done.

Being a 240sx guy and doing the whole drift, autox, and drag thing...I feel trucks need to tow cars to the track, not race at the track.  But that is just my opinion.

Good luck with your project.

be careful reducing the reciprocating mass on a manual tranny vehicle your going to drag race.reducing it too much will cause the engine to bog when release the clutch.lightening the flywheel, balancers, etc works real weel on road race cars that don't need to accelerate from a stop very often.all those roadrace, circle track cars have to be helped from a stop because they don't have enough inertia to keep the engine from stallingwhen starting from a stop.
