I'm looking to fabricate an intake for my 2.4 liter engine.  There are no aftermarket companys who make one, and I'm wondering where I can go or how I can fabricate my own intake.  I need a metal box that will sit on top of the throttle body where I can connect the metal tubing to a cone filter.  Anybody have suggestions?  I have an IMCO 2.5" exhaust, computer chip and throttle body spacer; I just need the intake

*cough cough*

www.4x4parts.com  is one of 2 companies that make a intake for the KA24DE in the frontier.  And their intake sounds just like the one you're trying to make.

The other I cannot remember off the top of my head right now.

Thanks man, holy **** that thing is expensive.  Do you have any experience w/ these intakes?  In other words do they actually improve performance enough to where one could feel it?

To be honest I couldn't tell that big of a difference w/ the throttle body spacer and exhaust installed.  Im wondering that if I get Air sucked in faster that it will actually use the full capacity of the exhaust, pushing more out.  The header looks tempting but fabrication is stilled involved with installation, not to mention that I happen to live in southern california.

That thing costs as much as CAI kit from K&N.  As for it working, I noticed a huge difference just dropping in a stock K&N filter.  You'll notice a huge difference between your stock intake and the 4x4parts CAI.

KA motors have the potential of being one powerful motor.  Problem is they require gobs of air.  That was the biggest problem of those with the 2nd gen 240sx.  They didn't feed it enough air, so they thought the motor was really kind of worthless.  So many swapped out to the SR20 because of the parts available.  Only within the past few years did companies realize this fact with the KA24DE.  Now you can find all sorts of parts, and make some decent power.  Not as much as the 240sx version considering the higher power ECU tuning isn't available for the Frontier.

To be even more specific would I notice a significant difference between the Super performer intake compared to the Polished performer plus intake?  I'm assuming that the Polished performer plus comes with the steel throttle body cover since the pictures doesn't show it.

Yes the KA24DE has potential but still lacks.  It's a rough motor that's extremely reliable and has decent torque.  It needs more oomph, especially when the A/C is blasting

I dropped in a replacement K&N filter #E9233 and put a resistor to the AIT sensor and can feel a noticeable difference. Left the filter cover off as well. Next step, BC cams.
