just got a 00 CC, 2WD.  very happy with it so far.  have some questions and would appreciate some feedback.

1-I use this truck for work and will be putting an ARE cap on it.  Access from the back is severely limited when the tailgate is down and the side swing tailgate on the Ridgeline really appeals to me.  I found some companies that sell "suicide tailgate" kits that basically open the tailgate from the side.  They're about $300 for a complete kit with remote solenoids.  Does anybody have a kit like this and how has the bed side held up to the weight of the tailgate pulling on it while open.

2-If I remove the rear bumper and unhook the support cables, will the tailgate hinges let the tailgate swing all the way down 180 degrees.  if that is possible, does anybody sell a plate holder/relocation kit for this truck.

thanks.

berge;

Welcome to the Frontier group!

... With the chain unhooked the tail gate will go down until it contacts something below and also has some quick release slots at something like 45 degrees so you can slide it out of the way if needed...  I removed the bumper for off road clearance and built the hitch to help protect the rear sheet metal.  The plate light is one of the original pair.

Here’s a PIC of the rear of my ‘99 4x4.

Have a good one, and CUL.. Don S..

Hummmmmmmmmmm...

I photo shopped one character to disguise the plate number. But it’s not as bad as the guy in the Texas panhandle with a dirt track race car with the number of 4Q2.

Have a good one, and CUL.. Don S..

I saw an actual plate (Cali license plate) on an 80s-era Mercedes last year that read "4KEW". Couldn't believe they got away with it!
