2001 Frontier SE - Can't find A/C leak in engine compartment: Hi pressure hose is OK(replaced anyway), connections are OK, condensor = OK, dryer/accum = OK, compressor not showing any leaks, no traces of oil and/or dye anywhere. Low pressure =30 psi, hi=285 - It's not the thermo amplifier. Am I in remiss of something that's simple? Is it possible that the evaporator has a leak? (haven't removed all "covers"). Please help. George

You've pretty much narrowed it down already. What's the
main issue, just no cold air blowing?

The issue is loss of refrigerant every week, but haven't been able to locate source of the leak, with the exception of the evap's. I will open up the covers this week to see if there are traces of oil or dye; however, so far, externally to the evap itself, it's not showing any oil residues. So far, for the sake of expediency(since this is my personal veh), when refrigerant is low, I just add on(to spec). Have not been confronted with something like this before (b/c there was always visible traces where the "freon" leaked from on the numerous different models and makes of veh's I have serviced.) I just wondered if anyone has encountered this on a 2001 Frontier, with this type of "mystery". Appreciate any inputs.

I had the same issue with mine a while back where a hard line from the condensor rubbed against another hose and caused a small leak. Trace all the lines from the condensor and any other possible lines to see if any are rubbing against something. Best bet is to charge the system and try to hear for any leaks. Hope this helps!
