I have a 2002 Nissan Frontier SE 4x4 Long Bed which is getting about 10-11 miles per gallon in City driving. I have taken it to the local Nissan Dealer who, after testing the vehicle, indicated that there was nothing he could do about the low milage. The only good thing about that experience was that the dealer did not charge me for the inspection.
I am disgusted and feel that there must be something to correct this problem.
Any ideas???

disgusted;
Welcome to the group!
I to am disgusted... The 10% Ethanol fuel as dropped my fuel mileage. All my plugs and injectors now get fouled too quickly. I'm using Lucus fuel treatment and getting a little relief but you can't get power when it 'ain't' there.
I don't think we need another thread on losy fuel mileage... I have made this a sticky subject for all fuel mileage problems.
below are links to threads within the last two months.

My 99 nissan frontier v6, 4x4 gets 19mpg on the highway at at regular speed. I do have a tonneau cover which makes a difference. I have heard of the newer ones getting bad gas mileage. That makes me want to buy a Toyota Tacoma. A friend just bought a 2007 Tacoma, 4x4, 4cyl that gets 26 mpg on the open road.

I just drove my 2007 Crew Cab 6 cylinder auto from PA to southern VA and back and got 24.6 mpg on the 470 mile run. I used premium fuel and kept between 6-65 mph. I did make sure that I had air pressure of 37 or more in my tires, used synthetic oil in the engine and rear diff and stayed at the speeds mentioned above. In town, I get far less, usually around 15-17 mpg. Make sure your tire pressure is good and play with different octane fuels. I have said several times that my truck does better on premium while others say just the opposite about theirs.

I have 4700 miles on the truck and it is bone stock with the Goodrich Long Trail tires. I bought it new 6 months ago. It is an SE with Utilitrack, bed divider, full rear seat but no roof rack or moonroof (sunroof?). I havbe only added Nissan skidplates which are thin and not very heavy as I use the truck forhunting and want to protect the underside from brush, sticks, etc.
I have changed the oil twice and use Mobil 1 5W-30 with a Nissan oil filter. The air filter is still the original paper filter. The truck was broken in very carefully, fowwlowing the owner's manual recommendations for the first 1200 miles.

I too have a 2002 CrewCab Longbed 4x4 3.3l V6 and have been getting 13-14 mpg city. I do have slightly larger tires/wheels than stock (265/70R16 Bridgestone Dueler APT) and a SnugTop Shell. I have a little over 110,000 miles and desperately need a tune-up (unemployed at moment, so cash is tight), once I change plugs, wires, filters & such I hope to get a few more out of it.
Yea we have the 10% ethabol gas here & I've been using Chevron Premium 92, seems to help a little.

By the way...I've heard 10% ethanol is being MANDATED across the country...so there will be no getting away from it. Kinda like the Ultra low sulfur diesel in my other truck....no lubrication
