I have to been totally honest.  I have 2 regular scan gauges, but I haven't seen either in quite awhile.  My son has one and my son in law has the other.  Now, I have one that I can keep.  If somebody asks me for a scan gauge, I can say I have an app on my phone.

Doing more research, I found pricey ones that do a much better job and they link to my phone.

Jim,

Were the Scan Gauge's that you had, "Scangauge II by
Linear Logic" ?

My objective was to get the Cheapest OBDII port reader
that would display ATF Temperature's in Real Time.

I saw other OBDII port reader's that would display ATF
Temp's in Real Time,, but they cost a LOT more.

Right now, with Advance Auto's 25% discount, The Linear
Logic Scangauge II can be got'n on their Website for 120
$'s before tax but with free shipping.

Wireless is good as long as it is Dependable and doesn't
interfear with the Nissan Chip's, etc. Wireless is an
added component in the Communication Circuitry.

My Motto is Keep It Simple if Possible.

Regards,

The gauges weren't the real fancy ones, just code readers and that is probably a better term for what I had.

If they produce winning lottery tickets, I might buy a pricey one.

Found I have 4 codes.  All TPMS issues.  I guess I have to reset them.  Fun stuff.

Jim,

IMO TPMS is too much trouble, and Too Expensive to Bother
with, for those of us that have an Air Compressor and keep
a Check on the Tire's Air Pressure. Also Visually look at
the Tire's often to see how they are Sitting/Squatting.

IMO TPMS is for those that never Pop the Hood, Do any
meaningful preventative maintenance, let the Batry
Terminal's Corrode till a repair is needed at the Batry,
and mainly just put gas in and Drive till the Truck need's
a Repair from Abusive Neglect.

When it come's time for me to Replace the Tire's, I'll
either get a Metal Valve Stem or a Rubber Valve Stem at
the Tire Store.

This last Service I lowered the Spare Tire for the 1st
time since getting the Truck New in '13. I almost waited
too long as the lowering mechanism was stuck pretty good,
but rocking the Shaft Lever back and forth several time's
broke it free.

I washed the Wheel/Tire and Armoralled both side's of the
Tire. I Greased the Chain and raised/lowered several
time's to try and work some Grease into the Mechanism. I
need to lower it again when the weather is cooler, sand
and repaint the Wheel.

Regards,

Jim,

It's a Government Mandate.

I don't know the 1st Year it was required, but we went
close to a 100 year's without TPMS. It's just another
Electronic that will fail and need to be maintained.

Our system doesn't even identify which Tire is the
problem.

Sort of like putting Nitrogen in the Tire's. Regular Air
work's Good for most of us. A high speed RaceCar might
benefit.

Way Too many Gemick's and Plastic being added to the Fish
Hook to Lure The Money.

Like I said, Too much Trouble and Too Expensive for a
Benefit that those of us who do Preventative Maintenance
to Justify the Time, Money, & Effort Needed.

It's a Money maker for the Shop though.

Regards,

I have fixed the codes with my cell phone.

I also found that my OBDII reader can display AT temps.  I just have to work with the app some more.  That is good to know.

Jim,

That'll be Great if the one you got for 16 $'s can Display
Live ATF Temp's.

I'd like to see a snapshot of that display too.

Regards,

So far I only have the answer to a general question.  I saw them talking about F-150.  Then I asked a bit more specific for the Fronty.  Showed a yes, but not which app.

I'll keep looking.
