Have you checked the Oil Level in the Rear Axle Houseing?

The rear axle bearings are not lubricated by the oil in the
rear axle. They are greased when they are installed.

The rear axle bearings are not lubricated by the oil in
the
rear axle. They are greased when they are installed.

Still going strong at 160k miles. I'd advise doing some
grease research and maybe using something other than what
it comes with. If I do it again I'll probably use Lucas
Heavy Duty Mining and Construction Grease, which I use on
my tractor.
I'm hearing some minor grinding now, but not certain if
it's the front or the rears. It's about time for the
fronts again so my guess is that's where it's coming
from. I'll take all the wheels off and spin them to see
if I can figure it out.

DK,
Have you kept an eye on the Oil Level in the Rear Axle
houseing over the 5 year's?
Be sure to take the Axle Houseing Breather out about once
a year or more often depending on Operateing Condition's.
Clean the Breather out with Diesel Fuel and Blow it out
with compressed air to make sure that it isn't clogged.
If it get's clogged air pressure can build up in the
houseing and cause the Axle Seal's to start leaking.
From your posting I am guessing maybe that you are useing
your truck in an Outside Industrial Environment. Correct
me if I'm wrong though. I drove my last Nissan Truck for
174K Mile's and never had a problem with the Wheel
Bearing's.
In an Severe Industrial Working Environment I would
expect a shortened lifespan though.
You mention your Tractor. Do you Pull Your Tractor on a
Trailer with your Frontier? If so how much does your
Tractor and Trailer Weigh? Wondering also about the
Tongue Weight,, but when I pull my trailer loaded with
Tractor, I can adjust the Tongue Weight by Shifting the
tractor position on the Trailer.
Here's Hopeing that Your Wheel Bearing's are still ok
though. That was a lot of work that you did to install
them, and I know you don't want to do it again so soon.

It's time to change the diff and transfer case oil. I
keep putting it off. Probably when it gets cooler I'll
get it done.
I just use it on PA roads. But mostly secondary roads and
we have a lot of pot holes.
I haven't towed the tractor yet. I have a 1025r with
loader, backhoe, failmower, and a few other things. But
will keep the tongue weight balanced.
I'm thinking it's the front ones. I seem to use them up.
Already on the second set so it's about time for the
third set.
It wasn't as bad as it seemed. It's just a lot of
changing of setup. That's what took the time and I did
them one at a time. Rather than both at the same time.

DK,
I've alway's been told that the Rear Axle Houseing Oil
also lubricate's the Wheel Bearing's on the 1993 Hardbody
that I drove for 20 year's and 174K mile's before getting
my current 2013 Frontier.
I wasn't sure if this had changed,, so today I called the
Local Nissan Service Department and spoke with them about
this. They told me that the Rear Wheel Bearing's are
Lubricated by the Oil in the Rear Axle Houseing and that
the Bearing's aren't even prelubed from the factory.
They also said that if the Oil in the Rear Axle Houseing
even get's too Low that it can starve the Rear Axle Wheel
Bearing's from being lubricated. That's why I try to
keep a check on the Oil Level in the Axle Houseing, just
in case there might be a leak that is unnoticed.
This is what they told me today. I haven't had to go
into the Wheel Bearing's yet,, and You know more about
this than I do, since you have gone into this Repair, but
I wanted to share with you what they Reaffirmed to me
about the Rear Axle Wheel Bearing Lubrication.

I had photos associated with this thread. The stealership
misinformed you as far as the C200 rear axle. This is a
photo of the oil seal that keeps the gear oil in the

The hub with axle is removed in this photo.
This is a photo of the new hub with backing plate and
tone ring installed. This is ready to be
installed into the rear axle.

the grease in the bearing below the tone ring. You can
also see the wear mark left by the lip seal above the
tone ring.
As you install it you need to protect that lip seal from
contact by the axle. So you need to use a seal protector.
I made one from a milk jug or you can buy them.

There are two different differentials used in the
Frontier. This is the C200. In the other, the M226, the
diff. oil would lube the bearing. The bearing change in
that axle is much easier to do. So depending on which
differential you have your mileage may vary.

DK,
Sound's like you are CORRECT.
Here's a Video, maybe put out by Nissan (Not Sure), but
it explain's the M226 and the C200k Difference's and How
they are Lubricated:

It say's Explicitly that the M226 Wheel Bearing's are
lubricated by the Axle Houseing Oil,, but that the C200K
is a Closed Houseing that has it's own Lubrication in the
Houseing. It amaze's me that the Dealership Service
Department didn't know this. Surely the Mastertech's do
though.
Now I see why you are looking for a better Grease for the
Wheel Bearing's. 
Now I wonder if the '93 2wd Hardbody Rear Wheel Bearing's
were sealed or if they were lubricated by the Axle
Houseing Oil. I never had a problem,, but I do wonder
about how they were lubricated.
