Gentlemen;
... Let me add a few thoughts and look at it from the dealer view point.
(A) I believe dealers get paid less than flat-rate for warrantee work.
(B) Some warrantee work is on the manufactures of the radios, tires and etc. In these cases some dealers will only warrantee these items if they sold you the vehicle or want your future business.
(C) Oversized tires weigh more, have more aerodynamic drag, and lift the vehicle causing more under body aerodynamic drag. So besides showing less mileage on the odometer, which in part controls the life of the warrantee, the oversized tires cause extra wear on the braking system. Also a little extra power I.e. wear in the engine and driveline for the additional weight and air drag of the tires and lift. Sure it may be minimal but it is there. As a whole modified vehicles are driven harder and that could influence a dealer.
Most dealers would tend to over look small modifications as long as Nissan pays the bills. Warrantee is like insurance, the more claims, the higher the price of the product!
Personally I cranked the T-Bars, added one inch blocks in the rear, and 31x10.50x15 BFG AT- KO's but didn't have to take it in for warrantee problems. I did have a lot of warrantee problems with our '99 Grand Cherokee.
Just food for thought...
Have a good one and CUL.. Don S..
Owned a 99 Grand Cherokee myself when they first came out...HUGE POS!
A/C kept going out, the creaks and rattles, and the drivers seat was meant for someone 5'6!
The first year of most new/major updated vehicles is usually the worst. The 99 Jeep proved that. |
