again, the dealership HAS TO PROVE the mod caused the problem. they cant so they cant void the warranty. you could say the same thing by just putting in a k&n filter in the stock air box.

I recently managed to get 405 miles on a single tank -o- gas. At just under 19 gallons that is 21MPG. That is mainly (85%) highway driving and I really featherd the gas and break - and use cruze like crazy. That was the only way I was able to achieve that type of milage. Normally I can get 340-360 miles per tank. chucknorris - you have the 4X4 which means you are probably gonna get less than the 4X2 will but the mods (filter) will help.

Damn, I thought I was a driver. I have 33k on my 05 that I bought exactly 1 year ago. I just got 21 mpg on my trip to Grants Pass, Oregon from San Diego, CA. I ran the air conditioner all the way and have both a K&N Filter and Tonneau cover.

I haven't actually calculated anything, but I've been driving with my tailgate down and the bed extender out and it seems that the needle isn't dropping as quickly as before. I know mythbusters dissagrees, but I think it might be helping mileage.

I have managed to get 400+ (400-410) miles on a tank for the last month. The drive is 130 miles round trip and I do that 5 times a week (average speed 80mph). I get 400 or so miles and fill up with 19 gallons of Gas ($52.00). Twice a week is ugly. Everything is stock except the filter which is factory spec and size but made by K&N. I bought it so I dont have to pay for a new filter 3 times a year. So the truck has gotten 21.5 MPG every tank for a month. That is above the MPG sticker that was on the truck when I bought it - so I was pleased.
By the way - The Frontier has the most powerfull engine in its class - been doing research. 4.0 Liter V6 265 HP with 6500LB towing capacity.
Man I love my truck!!!!

18.5-19 consistantly on my 06 KC se 4x2.
That was with dividing mileage on that tank, by the fuel put back in to full.
decent with my driving IMO.
An intake and bed cover are next

My 04 with a 3.3 v6 manual is barley getting 300 miles a tank. Does that sound right?

Well I too have a K&N drop in filter and in the city I avg around 17-18 mpg and I drive pretty conservatively. (in an 01 CC SE, otherwise stock other than the K&N drop in) First I NEVER unless i'm hurtin for cash to drive until E because that's not very good for your fuel pump but that's just me. I normally fill up around a quarter of a tank or just below a quarter of a tank and get about 245-255...maybe 260 miles on that.
now the correct way to gauge your milage is like someone mentioned above, fill your tank check your trip meter and divide the number of miles you drove by the number of gallons you filled up with....not 100% accurate, but probably the best way to keep track...a good idea is to keep a little notebook in your truck and everytime you fill up...write the date, odometer, number of gallons and i even add octane (in case i ever run anything more say if i'm doing my BG44K flush) and what company i bought the gas from. (granted people say oh there are only a handful of companies that actually refine oil, however those individual companies also work on additives and stuff that are propietary to try and get the edge on the other companies to claim their gas is "cleaner" gets better milage, blah blah blah)...i also write down oil changes and any other maintenance items in that notebook as a general way to keep track of what i'm doing...lol now for the past few months i haven't been very diligent...ok ok...not at all as far as keeping it up...but i do keep track of my milage still when i fill up by doing the calc to see what i'm avg. it's a good way to keep a trend analysis of how your vehicles is doing economically in theory at least.
for all those that love the K&N and i thought i was doing myself a favor, check out the link in the adding HP section that i posted there about the filter test that this guy did and you'll see that K&N let the most crap through out of the tested filters and only had a slightly better flow rate, but that was for drop in filters not CAI's....it also has links somewhere in there for the AEM bruteforce dryflow that has intrigued me and i definitely am interested in looking into that when i can afford it. as for now i'll reoil my intake and hope it doesn't dick my MAF....soooo i'll be letting it dry for about 24 hours before sticking it back in my truck and driving it.

For my first fillup in my 06 SE CC 4x2 I got 17.5 MPG with average driving. I'll probably drive with the stock filter setup for another month to get a consistent MPG and then mod the filter and add the K&N filter.
