I took my 06 Frontier CC LE 4WD to the dealership to center the steering wheel and they did an allignment.  Whatever they did almost completely remedied my wandering issues at highway speeds and the wheel is straight when on center.  Now only the biggest bumps travel to the steering wheel on the highway.  Steering also seems tighter.  Cost me $90.  I have 24k on it.

Hi All.

My Niece has an '06 Nissan Frontier with the same steering problems. She started noticing the problem about 2 months ago and didn't realize how serious it was so she delayed taking the truck in until it got very difficult to drive.  Now Nissan is refusing to fix it for free because she is outside of warranty (38K miles). Has anyone had any luck getting Nissan to fix the problem for free even if not under warranty? Has any one else had a problem and been dissatisfied with Nissan's lack of cooperation about fixing it?  As someone mentioned earlier in the string, I smell a class action suit...

Thanks.

I have a similar problem with an 06 US built 4x4 Pathfinder with about 19K kilometers that has been in for two alignments, first one before it had a 100 kms, the second about a week later which helped some, but it has always required good attention when driving and needs constant correction to keep it from wandering out of the lane at highway speed. I often think if a cop gets behind me that he'll pull me over to check if I'm drunk.

The truck hasn't been on highways lately but even at city freeway 80 km/hr speeds it's starting to feel worse. Is there any definitive fix for this problem or any TSB numbers I can refer the service manager to. By constantly having to steer the vehicle I wonder how that is affecting tire wear, the power steering pump or even the front final drive U-joint.

Posting update on my steering issues.  I'm up to 27k and my steering is still good after the dealership aligned the front end.  I've even taken it on a pretty rough off road adventure and drove home 400 miles afterward.  Steering is still tight and no excessive feedback from the steering wheel.  Whatever the dealership did during their alignment has completely remedied my issues.  More than worth the $90 it cost me.
