I looked at toyota before Nissan. I did not like how soft the lines are, it is too rounded and really does not look good to me.  The dash/radio layout is heidious. The Nissan just looks like a truck. Screw areodynamics haha. I love my 6 speed and  I love the interrior, plus its a Titan frame! I have no doubt that this truck is THE BEST midsize truck. While I will say I really like the previous gen Tacoma. Too bad.

When the time came this year to replace my old '95 F-150 Supercab with a mid-size 4 door truck, I first tried the Toyota dealer.  (My parents had many Toyota trucks over the past 25 years with nothing but praise.)  I wanted a manual trany in a crew cab long-box, but Toyota didn't make this combo.  Picking up a Lemon-Aid guide, I found it the Frontier earned the same 5 star rating as the Tacoma, and gave me everything I wanted in one truck!  Also I like the styling - nice and simple and not so, well, "lumpy" looking.  6 weeks in, I am happy with this truck.  Gordo

Yup theres no competition...and like someone had said earlier...the driver can make or brake the car...but seriously, Frontiers will whoop the crap out of tacomas...Ive raced so many and they all come up short when it comes to take off and power...we have more torque also that contributes alot to it...my 07 SE crew cab 4x2 long bed has faster accelration than a tacoma crew max! It sucks! Makes me proud I chose Nissan!

I looked at taco's first because my wife has had a Rav 4 for six years with zero probs. After driving both and comparing the #'s the nissan won easily. Oh i have been buying new fords every 3 years or so for 30 years. Gone to the dark side.

The last 15 years I have purchased 2 new Toyota 4 x 4 's with no problems with either one. this last 1 i had for 10 years, well it was time for a new one, i went to 3 different dealerships, test drove a few, new v6 runs great. was treated almost like a criminal because i wouldnt pay sticker on their precious truck. decided to check out a Nissan, it drove better, had more power, was more comfortable too.I now have a SE v6 manual. I got 700 off sticker and another 2000 in rebate. Toyota should take note, their hard nose selling is hurting sales, and besides its not any better that a Nissan. Thank you Toyota for being an azzhole. I now  like my Nissan.

nissan has more hp, has a better price, has better brakes, has better bed options for load caring, and also looks alot better because its wheel flares are actualy part of the sheat metal!..... not to mention, its a truck, the taco has a car interior... it should for the price.  Next the motor has no balls when you actualy push it. my boss has one and so does his dad... there both the 4.0 but i drove them to lunch in my fronty and they both said the should have gotten the nissan.

About a year ago my buddy bought a brand new Taco. 3 Months previous, I bought my Fronty. Anyhoo, we met up with our 2 new trucks at a buddy's house one day for a comparison drive. Our buddy has a 94 Taco and was looking at both the taco and the Fronty so we decided to oblige him with a test drive. Keep in mind we're talking identical trucks. Both V6,6 speed, king cab, and both are even silver. Short of the long, after the two of them drove the new Frontier, the  new Taco owner wished he got a Fronty and the old Taco owner was on his way to the dealership. Biggest differences for them were the snot posessed by the Nissan, the transmission that didn't feel like it was full of gravel, and the 4 wheel discs. Only thing they liked more in the Yo was the stereo. Big deal, with the dough you save bying the Fronty, go buy a nice stereo system.

I have a 2005 frontier 4 door and 4x4 auto and have a friend that has a 4x4 king cab stick shift he wanted to race me, Well he dosent want to race me any more! We took 2 runs and had the same results he saw my tail lights,, My ? is on paper every thing I read states the taco should win but it dont these 2 runs were at dead stops I have also had another race at about 45 mph with a taco and had the same results

listen, lets be honest here, your friend simply does not know how to drive a stick shift....your frontier weights hundreds of pounds more and also is slowed down by an automatic transmission....even with  30hp less, that tacoma "acces cab" with a 6 speed beats your frontier badly in a drag race...

I am a very picky, poor and undecisive person. I owned a '94 pathy and
loved it to death, so did every single person that ever rode in it. After six
years in it, decided it had proven itself and it was time to move on to a
new truck. This was a major decision for as it will most likely be the only
new vehicle I will ever buy.
I shopped for a very long time and compared the various packages
atriaght accross (ranger, taco, fronty) The Ranger was way more than the
taco and had very small mazda parts and crappy warranty.
The taco was way more than the fronty and looked like a pontiac inside
and shifted badly.
I drove the fronty and had a hard time giving the keys back. I drove the
taco and the fronty about six times each. The taco engine is better and
the fronty trans is better. The nissan has more room all over inside, has
more power, better trans, better box options, wicked styling, better seats,
and a better thought out interior. The taco has a smoother engine, better
visibility, more options, better aftermarket support, better mileage.
As far as performance goes, both have crappy turning radius, poorish
mileage, and really good ground clearance.
Nissan underbelly is designed much better and the packages are thought
out much better as well.
I hated having to pay for all sorts of junk I didn't want in order to get the
good stuff (rear locker).
The taco ahs a lower centre of gravity and is wider so it is more stable off
road. Wheelbases are very close and shoulder room is no comparison.
Both trucks are very well designed, but I got WAY more truck for WAY less
money in my frontier. Very happy about it.
On A side note, had I chosen to go with an suv again, I would have chosen
the fj cruiser hands down. It is better than the xterra. I really like the
buggy look too.
That's my two cents (that's all I have left after buying a new truck!)
