Quality of oil filters is often not considered; their quality is extremely important.  I have done research on various oil filters; Purolator Pure One seems the overall better oil filter which is available for the Frontier.  Also, I use the new 15,000 mile/12 month Mobile One.  I would never let my Frontier go that long between oil changes.  With the aforementioned combination I will go as long as 6 months/6,000 miles.  That is just my personal preference; Hope it is helpful.

Personnaly I can't see using Royal Purple for engine oil.  The cost/benifits just doesn't come close.  Now for the Tranny, transfer case, and diffs, the cost is well worth it.

well yeah cost/benefit on royal purple for engine oil is questionable especially with everything i've heard about mobil 1 being a very quality oil, but i also read in some forum that stated that their other fluids aren't the best choice for like tranny/diff fluid...however i dont' know..it's one question that has been on my mind cause i'm about to change the diff/tranny fluid in my truck soon, as far as going to synthetic..i'm gonna go to mobil 1

however, my boss drives an F150 and uses royal purple in it and she says she'll goo for 5000-6000 miles before changing, but indicated changing the filter every 3k anyone else run 5-6k but change filters at 3k?

but one question that have is any recommendations for synth fluids for tranny/diff fluids? any that i should stay away from

I run mobile 1 Synthetic and a mobile 1 oil filter have had no problems. I Change it every 5k. 

I use a synthetic blend in the Diff's and have not had any problems.

On manual Transmissions I heve been told that Red Line oil's are good

I have used Royal Purple 5W30 motor oil in my 01 supercharged Frontier for almost two years and was happy with the performance results. However, since of last year I switched over to useing Mobil-1 5W30 fully Synthetic and the results are even better.

I have always changed the motor oil and oil filter every 3500 miles max and have always used only genuine Nissan oil filters for my VG33er engine.  No matter what the oil manufacturer's claim is for its oil protection & performance results of 5000, 10,000 or even 15,000 mile oil. Just think of the motor oil as the blood of your trucks engine and the oil filer as its heart. Now, think of what happens to the blood (motor oil) after 3500 miles; the viscosity (even with fully synthetic oil) starts to break down as you loose valuable lubricant protection due to engine heat build-up and friction while the heart (oil filter) has to keep the circulation of the blood system flowing and clean. Some manufacturers of oil filters are made with paper filtration filters and will collapse after time thus restricting proper oil flow to the engine vital parts and/or allowing oil contaminates to bypass the filer and run back into your engine.
