Nissan claims this issue SHOULD only affect the 2005-2010 Frontiers. 2011 and 2012 should be okay and not suffer from pre-mature wear. It seems like this timing chain issue affects different trucks at random though even during the 2005-2010 years. I've seen this issue as early as 15K and as late as 120K.

It seems like a terrible answer but its kinda the luck of the draw. I'd like to say its because of poor maintenance/cheap oil will help but seeing as how it affects trucks at such different times (and many trucks have had good maintenance history), seems like production date does have something to do with it!
