My truck is gray (dark) and I used the black stuff.  Looks really nice, especially if you take the time to tape everything up they right way.  And make sure one side looks like the other!

Spray can rino turns gray after a while. The clear bra option on mine covers the nose and the problem areas on the fender. Seams to help. I had a couple that did ding the clear bra but did not get to the paint. As nissan installed the bra they warrentie it as well for a year.

I got Line-x to spray the area, 247.00 later looks really really nice... I just got to get a hold of Nissan, the regional specialist is a bad word to get a hold of.

Do you mind posting pictures of your frontier? I need to do the same thing. Did you end up getting any compensation from Nissan. I'm going through that now.

I never asked for compensation.  It is a truck, after all, not a cadillac.  So stuff happens and I correct it.

Boomer, Booomer, Boomer !!!! I had a 96 Tacoma w/ 156K that never chipped like that! It's a design flaw and Nissan WILL take care of it. I just don't understand how some dealers can weasle out of it.I have even seen vehicles over the 3/36 basic warranty get covered.

Frontierguy, I hear what you are saying but I use my truck like a truck.  It goes through the woods on dirt trails during deer hunting season, across grassy fields during pheasant hunting and on gravel roads a lot of times.  4WD gets used heavily on snowy roads in the winter. It gets scratched.  I haul a lot of stuff in the bed and have marks in there.  I am far more concerned with the longevity and dependability of the drivetrain.  Putting a little "schmeck" on those spots to prevent chipping is so low down on my worry list with a truck, it really doesn't register.  Just me, I guess.

However, I did add the Nissan skid plates and a diff protector to my SE and they are doing their job as I see some small dents in the plates where sticks (probably) banged into the plates rather than the gas tank or the transfer case.

Hmmm ya I dont know if i agree with driving my truck for 3 months and having a sh*t load of rock chips that will eventually lead to rust on my truck. Seems they should fix the problem and help me put some line x on it.

Also when I do spray the line x on or get it done, what did it look liek when you taped it off? Did you just do the tiny square it usually hits or do the whole side of the truck? cheers
