any suggestions on how i could get the mechanic to diagnose this?,unfortunetlly the dealer i work with is less than helpful.as a mechanic im sure you know how hard it is to diagnose "strange noises" but i swear i feel like they dont listen to what i say.i am thinking of going to another dealer but it is more than an hour away, again i would appreciate any suggestions

Another dealer may be a very good idea. Another problem in todays shops, most technicians would rather replace the transfer assy than repair it. It is quicker and most times the most cost effective method.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

Had a truck in the shop yesterday doing the same thing as you described. clicking type sound as you come to a stop, not in 4WD though. Put it in the air, front u-joint on the front drive shaft was shot(no needle bearings in 2 of the cups). Replaced the drive shaft, road test noise gone. Warranty doesn't pay enough to replace the joints, so we replace the complete drive shaft.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

From reading these prior posts, the clicking/ticking nosie I am hearing at slow speeds and the vibration/rumbling noise may be coming from a failed front u-joint as well. It was way to cold today to get under the truck and check but I will check as soon as I can. Thanks frontierguy and all the others for you input. I'll let you know if this was my problem.

Thanks everyone
