I had introduced myself before but I managed to lose and/or forget my screen name and password.

Here is my problem:  Was driving the truck and it just died.  I pull over and try to start it.  It struggles to start and is very rough and has a very low idle.  I mean barely idling.  Almost like when a car is dieseling.  It will eventually die out and it does not react to any throttle inputs.  Almost seems like it is in some sort of safe mode.  I get it towed and it sits for about 12 hours and then fires right up.

I drive it for a week with no problems and then it happens again.  This time it does not want to fire back up.  It already had the check engine light on from the infamous code for the fuel sender but that should not effect driveability right?  I disconnected the battery thinking it might reset the computer but the problem does not go away.

It has a new battery, clean terminals and the alternator is charging.

It almost soundsl like a clogged fuel filter?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way it is a 2005 Nissan Frontier 6 cylinder auto 4x4

I am not using a genuine Nissan air filter, I have a Fram in there now and that is what I have been using.  I am going to try to clean the MAFS and see how that goes.  Corroded  engine grounds sounds like a possibility, I will check that out as well.  For mileage I have approximately 64,000 miles.

I spoke to another person who had described the exact same problem and he said they replaced the Intelligent Power Distribution Module and the problem was resolved.  Any ideas on that?

Thanks for the reply and the help.

Just to give an update on what I found.  It ended up being the IPDM.  Evidently they short out sometimes and cause the problems I described.  While trying to start the truck a friend banged on the IPDM and it started right up.  Just ordered a IPDM but they are on back order.  Dealership said they would overnight and have it in by Thursday.  We will see.  Dealership charged me $143.00 for one.

Have seen concerns with the ABS control unit, low battery voltage, ground connections, etc, all creating a condition like you describe. These new vehicles are no fun to diagnose, two vehicles can have them same symptons, but different cures for the repair. Are you the JerseyDevil from KTMtalk?

Another update.  Like I said I found the problem with the IPDM but now the real fun begins.  Nissan has informed me that the part is on back order and there is no release date.  So basically Nissan cannot tell me when this part will be available.  So I have not had a car for over a week and will not know when I will get mine back on the road.  Great deal!  I have contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and currently have my own case worker who has not done much so far.  This is really my first problem with the truck but it is very frustrating.  Anyone have any ideas on what to do?  Has anyone heard when this part may be available?

By the way, I am not the guy from KTMtalk.  Sorry.  I have a Yamaha, but we probably ride the same woods.
