I have looked and looked for a reprogramer ,but the only thing that i can find is a jet chip . I called the jet chip maker and he said that it WILL NOT change the governor but it will get you to the governor faster by adding 15 to 20 hp.but there might be more parts for the v6. You might look at a nissan off road racing website to find more stuff.if you are looking for more hp put a cool air k&n intake and go to a magnaflow exhaust.the gibson and the flowmaster are good too, but I think the magnaflow sounds the best. And for anybody who thinks I don't know what i'm talking about, My 04 4 cylinder is putting 200 hp to the ground, and I do all my own engine work.

nice i was thinking about getting intake...and maybe a factory tune up...cause i was reading somewhere this one guy( with a  king cab 2005 or 06 frontier) got a factory tune up, and was running stock besides that and was doing 14 second quarter miles...with like a 20 or somethig around that increase in horsepower and torque about in the low 300's so i mean idk....but then its all pointless if the governor holds you back...cant u just take it out. lol

If you're looking for that top speed, it will be fun.  As some trucks were tuned differently than others, even when it comes down to the year and model.  I had an 02 4x2 KC KA24DE Auto, top speed I've hit in it was 118.  There is a guy here who has the same thing, but has hit the govrner at 105.  I rode along to see if it was just power lag, or actual govrner, and it was.

But if you're looking to max at that wonderful truck on the interstate, here are a few things that will help.

1. AEM Brute Force Intake
-I recommend AEM because of the dry flow filter, K&N and other companies use filters with oil, and these put residual oil onto the air temp sensor and MAF sensor, and can cause all sorts of problems.

2. A good exhaust system
-Upgrade that exhaust to either 2.5" (4cyl) or 3" (6cyl) and put the muffler you like in there.  Don't bother with high-flow cats unless they cost less than your stock cat.  Research shows that a properly functioning stock cat flows the same as the supposed High-flow.  Though in some cases in cheaper to go with the High-flow.  Muffler make little difference in performance, and more into sound.  Only when you're going for top fueler performance that getting the right muffler become important.  But going without a muffler actually robs power (refer to basics of adding HP article)

3. A lightweight bed cover
- Mythbusters already prove you get horrible gas mileage by letting down the tailgate.  But they also pointed out that the tailgate does create a drag point.  I noticed a 8 MPH top speed gain just by putting a bedcover on mine.  If you are going to get one, do some research and price comparing.  Honestly, I cannot stand the soft tops that you have to put snaps into.  I like something more rigid.

Those 3 will help you increase your topspeed, or at least help you find the gorvner.  If you still haven't found the gorvner (and at this point I must point out you're insane to keep trying, Cops don't issue tickets at 100 MPH+) you can try more internal mods of the engine.  JWT makes cams and such.  You can also go to www.importperformanceparts.net and they might have a engine kit.  If not, they can make custom pistons at a reasonable price.

A gov won't shut your engine off because of safety reasons, all the vehicles I've been in that hit the gov either don't go any faster or drop the speed about 10 mph. I guess it depends though.

You can easily tell the difference between the top speed of the vehicle, and the gorvner.

Top Speed you'll max out a certain speed, and won't continue to go any farther, but the engine still maintains it's RPMs.  You'll slow down or gain speed from their depending upon the weather and terrain, but not from the motor.

Govrner, you'll reach a certain point in the RPMs, and top speed, and the motor will lag back down to a safe RPM bringing the truck down to a safe speed.  If continued it will seem as if the engine is pulsing with its power.

Some vehicles never reach their govrner because of wind resistance, or the fact the motor just doesn't have enough power to reach it.  Depending upon it's setting as I mentioned before.  I did 118 in my 02 Frontier, and never did hit the govrner.  But someone with a similar truck to mine hit their govrner around 108 or so.
