I don't really see a negative for the Suzuki Equator. Rebadging is a common occurrence in the industry. See Ford Ranger/Mazda pickup, GMC Canyon / Isuzu pickup etc.
From Suzuki's standpoint, they believe that people who buy their toys will most likely need/own a truck to haul them. They also know that a lot of these people don't need a full size to do so. Add in that Suzuki customers will most likely enjoy the idea of their truck 'matching' their toys.
It may sell a few more trucks for Nissan and hopefully encourage the after market to look more seriously at our trucks as well.
The only downside is that a lot of Frontier owners may trade theirs in on the Suzuki as they have a much better warranty. But Nissan is still pocketing most of the sale.

Yeah, I am aware of the rebadging in the business that has been going on for some time, I guess it's disappointing to see Nissan have to turn to it for sales.
As for gas mileage, my 02 I love, and I do really like the new Frontys as well...however my brother had an 05 KC and it got better mileage than my 02 CC, mine with the 3.3, his with the 4.0. No issues with my truck either, it runs great. (knock on wood).
One thing I do like about the Nissan Trucks is that they have the fully boxed frame even on our smaller trucks....the Tacoma's aren't, neither are the Tundras for that matter, only the engine compartment is fully boxed on the new tundras. that just bothers me for some reason.

I'm fine with the rebadging... about every industry does it. Tires, brake pads, shocks... you name it, there's probably 2 or more companies selling the exact same thing.
Example, Delta Tires is actually a sub-company for Pro Comp and michilen. Same tires, same tread, different name on the side wall... It keeps sales up for the parent company.
Some companies should know when to cut some losses though. For the life of me, I still cannot see why GM continues with GMC and Chevy. Just drop the GMC line and start offering more packages on the Chevy lineup. They drop the cost of making symbols and different body panels. Plus additional costs are only needed in sale pamplets and website design. They'd be offering a 4LT or 5LT pakcage, no extra badging, and it's still the upper class interior styling of the GMC line.
Of course, much like everything else in the world. It makes too much sense, so therefore it cannot be done.

I do not like the look of the Equator but I do not see anything wrong with rebadging it.

In other rebadging story.....apparently Chrysler is going to be building a full size truck for Nissan by 2011 at their Mexico plant, and I am assuming Nissan is dropping their production of the Titan altogether as it indicated this would be a replacement for the Titan. I don't have the link off hand so you'll have to google it..but it appears they came to an agreement on this. What say you all?

It sucks, but what can they do? Emissions and manufacturing restrictions keep getting tighter, and Titan sales are weak. You can't stay in business if you keep making products that don't make money. Toyota is not having a lot more luck with the Tundra either, sales have been less than expected. It's hard to break into the segment. The big 3 have it wrapped up, and no where other than North America wants such large vehicles.

good point. They are excellent trucks, but if they aren't selling Nissan's gonna give it the ax. They should concentrate on the Frontier because thats what they do best.
The Titans sit on the lots because of gas mileage...thats it. The Tundras don't sell because they get low mileage and look horrible! It looks like Toyota took a F150, Dodge Ram, Chevy Silverado, a Titan and made one truck out of all the parts from each one. Its the truck that got beat with an ugly-stick.
