I noticed a slight difference in power and fuel milage on my 99 dakota. but it wasnt worth the 60 bucks. Also a spacer on Fi engine gives more power by increasing the velocity of the air entering the engine.

  increasing the velocity???

unless that sucker has a fan in there to give some kind of boost, it's not going to be worth anything compared to the money spent.  In fact, it could end up hurting if the edges don't match up, creating a lip of canyon for the air flow to be disturbed on.

Honestly, if you're looking to gain that much air flow out of your intake... get a RAM Air that drops directly into your intake.  Install a SC or turbo, or go out and buy a vehicle using a Carb and throw the sucker on there.

The spacer for a FI system came along because some guy who knew how well they worked on carb, and tried to see how well it worked on a FI.  With motors today, they're pointless, but a company knows they can find someone to fork up money.

I installed one not too long ago.  Now unlike the Airaid TB spacer, the one I purchased did not have groves cut in it, it acutally had 6 fins cut manufacured into it.  To me this was a more noticable difference.  I purchaced mine off Ebay from Autoextreme1, about $70.  To me I notice the difference.  But I have made several mods besides this.  But with and adverage 24-30 mpg city, who can argue.  Also, I have kept up with a few mustangs too.

Hello,

The Throttle body spacers from Airaid are not desighned to add HP, nor does Airaid claim they make HP. The TB spacer is suppsoed to make part throttle mid-range torque gains, which they do on most vehicles, not all. Dynoing them is a waste of time and of course it will not show a gain, as they make part throttle gains, not full throttle gains. Basically for light to light or around town is what they are intended for, not going faster in a 1/4 mile.

Thanks,

David

Pretty convenient that none of the additional power gains are are verifiable.  I am going to use that line when people get mad that my magic beans don't seem to make any power increases either.

I can record data at part throttle on my DynoJet.
Send me one, tell me what speed, RPM or % throttle to test it at.  If it makes an increase I'll pay for it.  Otherwise I'll hang it on the wall above my dyno, right next to the tornado that made a 9hp increase ~ after I removed it from a customer's car.
