You treat them well, and they'll return the favor.

I got my 2002 Frontier S/C long bed as a demo at the end of 2001.  LOVE IT.  People had warned me that the supercharger could be flaky on them, but I never had a problem with mine. Gas milage has never been good, maybe 16 mpg.  I put two kayaks on the roof, haul two more, 4 of us in the cabin and a crap load of gear in the bed.  Never skips a beat.

I'm curious about this as well....I've been looking at an 02 S/C King Cab Frontier Desert Runner and really like it...cause i like the feel of the 4x4 but have no need for a 4x4 right now..will buy a toy later if i wanna trash one out. However, the fuel situation is what i'm concerned with..regardless if i got the non-supercharged 6 or the s/c..i'm gonna do mods to the truck when i can afford them to increase performance..but well...how many besides the fella living in denver have a s/c fronty and run the mid grade octane..you can def get away with it up at that altitude..but was curious if anyone in texas or lower lying areas gets away with running mid grade fuel on their s/c's....i'm trying to decide whether or not to get the S/C and make mods to it...or just get the reg. 6 and make my own mods..which i could most def get more power out of than the s/c in theory anyway by adding my own mods....just thoughts.....the fuel question is the main one for me..thanks.

I would like to change my comments on mid-grade gas, Two weeks ago I started having hard start issues, figuring it was the gas, I change to high octane(or at least our high octane which is 91) Now the hard start isssue is gone and it runs better.

hmmm i guess it was running less well as well right? with the mid-grade gas? i think that about seals it for me perhaps...tho this used S/C DR King Cab i am looking at is a nice truck, i'm not sure i really wanna be paying for premium grade gas right now...i can always ad a supercharger later onto a fronty if i get one..and i guess i'll just go for perhaps an SE-V6 DR if i can find one..really don't want 15 inch rims that come with the XE, and the SE i think comes with the 16 inch rims standard regardless if it's the DR or not. i guess that poses another question....how much power has anyone gleaned out of a n/a fronty 6 cylinder, by adding bolt on parts and the such, (i.e. exhaust, cold air intake, pulleys perhaps, you know the like, w/o going to a turbo or supercharger) i know the stock motor puts out about 170 HP and around 200 ft/lbs of torque am i correct, so just curious as to what others are getting out of their n/a fronty's without going super or turbocharged.

thanks

I don't know about the power gains but there are three different wheel sizes for the Fronty's, 15" are for the XE, there was a special model called the SVE(supercharged Value Edition) which had 16" and then the S/C and Desert Runner I believe had 17".  Keep in mind my premium gas is what the rest of the country is using as mid-grade. Look for a post call S/C pullies, He goes into the gas situation and performance parts. I beleive its in the Modifaction/performance forum.

I bought an 01 n/a v6 in August and I love it. It actually gets arround pretty good. I have not really stepped on it yet. I want to put synthetic oils and fluids in it first. Then I will put in a cool air intake. If that gives me the performance that I want then I will put in a computer chip. They say not to put a chip in until last so that they can tune it to your upgrades. The owners manual on my v6 says to run only premium. Someone on this site said that if I do all that I may gain about 20hp which would be great. Plus no loss in mpg. Does any one know if you would gain perf. by putting in an electric fan vs the belt driven one? I heard that you would because of the drag the the belt driven fan puts on the engine.
