i can see that stillen just came out with its supercharger that adds roughly 100hp at 6 psi, but im not really into superchargers... i dont wanna run anything off my crankshaft and generate too much heat eighter.... so i figure turbo is the way to go...but it looks as if there is nothing out there for a nissan frontier,,,, anyone?
i have an 07 king cab 6 speed 2wd.....i wanted an alternative to the x-runner, so i figured the 4.0 6speed king should be the quickest frontier ever built... im approaching the 30k mile mark, and the only thing i have done to it so far, is switch over to fully synthetic motoroil right at my first 3k mile oil change. i figure the slight heat and friction reduction should eliberate another 5-10 ponys..and im proud to say that even in stock form, my frontier kicked some serious butt on christmas eve, as i won a heads up race 0-80 mph against my buddy's bmw 325i and jaguar s-type 4.0 v8 with cold air intake. the bimmer i left behind several car lenghts, while the jaguar was 2 car lenghts behind to 60mph and caught up 1 carlenght by the time we hit 80... we were both at a loss for words. how could a 265hp truck beat a ~300hp car? till figured it was all due to his lazy automatic

Cool Beans!... What gear were you in at 80MPH?
Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..
Higher fuel mileage? We need a government study to show the benefits of making ethanol from Marijuana and Agaves plants.
Alas .. Probably be more suicides from those trying to die by exhaust fumes.

if i remember correctly i was in my 3rd gear powerband. thanks to the 6 speed those shorter gear ratios helped out alot. even with those meaty rear tires,(which are semi slicks by now ) and limited slip diff, i got a second of wheel spin as i shifted to second. which was probably due to the fact that i slightly pushed in the clutch at 5500rpm in first, and tapped the throttle to little past 6k rpm, then popped 2nd and floored it again, which gave me that extra punch in second... i gotta tell you, the power in these new generation frontiers brings a smile to your face..

i don't know of anyone running a turbo on any of the new frontiers, we have had one member with the stillen set up and produced as borat would say "very nice" results from what he posted about the dyno numbers, he also had a couple other mods such as intake/exhaust i believe.
one place you could look, tho i do not know if they have a set up for the frontier (last time i looked they did not) is STS Turbo (www.ststurbo.com) they do have a universal application that could probably (if you had the time/money and inclination to do so) work for you. It is an interesting concept to say the least and seems to produce good results, they had one installed on a vette on spike's horsepower show and was interesting to hear a turbo whine on a vette. good luck with your search.

I would agree on the volant setup. It will actually isolate the filter and filters
better for you. It's not just an open box with a huge filter in it. There are
major advantages to the stock setup. It can handle a lot of water before it
hydrolocks. It will allow better airflow but still pulls in real "cold air" from
outside the engine bay. I believe it has the highest integrity for your engine.
Besides a very comprehensive filter system.
There is also a company out there that produces remote mount turbo
systems. This eliminates the engine bay heat and noise and space crunch
and you still get the power. The problem is tht it is underthe truck which
leaves it vulnerable to impact and contamination. There is also a lot of extra
piping due to the turbo placement. It might be right for you though.

I've been trying to find out the very same info. The article was done on a
taco and there weren't that many mods done. I had forgotten the
compression ratio on the 05 and up. I don't think that high octane fuel is a
must as it is really only a safety feature to prevent preignition. But i
must admiot that the owners manual for my stealth did also dictate high
grade gas and it was built for turbos and only had 7-9 psi.
