There is no way you're not going to feel a 5000# camper, and going over the rockies is going to be a slow and gas-guzzling experience.  Get used to the right-hand lane when you have an option, and make sure you pull over frequently to be courteous to the people stuck behind you when you don't.

That being said, safety-wise you should be fine.  I have a 5500# travel trailer I go a lot of places with.  I wouldn't do the rockies, though, for the reasons i mentioned above.

Even with a Titan or an F250 diesel you're still gonna feel it... not as much perhaps, but whenever the towed vehicle is of significant weight compared to the towing vehicle, physics will rear its ugly head and the the performance/ handling characteristics will change.

Make sure your brake controller and trailer brakes are in good working order, too... the long descent is a bad time to find out there's something wrong.

I just bought a new 2008 frontier 4x4 SE.  I went from Seattle to las vegas About 1400 mi towing a trailer with a car on it and the truck was jam packed with tools and heavy stuff. I was weighing a total of 9700 lbs, truck, trailer and cargo with me (190 lb fat bastard) in it. The V6 pulled almost effortlessly and cruised on up to highway speeds with no problem.

It was fun looking at the faces of guys with fullsize trucks pulling less weight than I was, as I passed them with no problem at all and still averaging about 14 mpg in realistic numbers. This truck is limo quiet and car smooth. It has all the creature comfy features I could have wanted and still works like a team of clydesdales. Way to go Nissan! and for $3200 less money and with 30 more HP and torque AND! More handsome than a Tacoma, which is in it's own rite a very nice truck too. I'm glad I did my homework and comparison shopped. I'LL be keeping this truck for a long time.
