I'm fairly new to the forum and currently own a 2000 Frontier King (4cyl/auito) and a 2006 Frontier King (V6/man). My first Nissan was an 87 HB King. That was one damn tough truck. I drove it for 11 years and put 250K hard miles on it. I didn't know an auto trans would last that long and still shift smoothly. That truck never had any engine or trans work done on it...it just kept on truckin'. I think I adjusted the valves one time and never had to have the front end aligned and I never replaced the timing chain. All I ever did was replace the fan belt and plug wires once and put brakes on it about 3 times I think.
But, it's all in the maintenance, which I did myself. I changed my oil and filter every 5000 miles and the trans fluid every 40K-50K miles. The fluids are the life of a vehicle. However, I never changed the differential oil. I finally donated the truck to a charitable organization and it still ran fine except that it needed a tuneup. And, it still didn't use any oil between changes. It was starting to leak a few drops from the rear main seal though.
I sure got my money's worth out of that vehicle and it made me a hard core Nissan fan.
