..

... Though drying the air with the A/C on is a little more efficient and might be needed at times (like you have seven passengers breathing heavily) it takes extra gasoline to run the A/C.

...  My mechanic friends tell me that (A) all late model cars are set up using the A/C with the defroster and (B) I can cut the wire to the A/C pump clutch and add an off-on switch in that wire.

Have a good one,    and CUL.. Don S..

I understand all that about the de-humidifying part but why does it still run after its turned off???  After I defrost my windows & set the knob for floor or vent the compressor still cycles on until the truck is shut off & then turned back on...It can be below zero out...heat on Max & the AC compressor keeps cycling on & off...STUPID!

I know that but.......When I shut defrost off I also want AC Compressor to shut off...It doesnt...It still cycles on/off no matter what settingthe control switch is put on wasting gas until the truck is turned off & then restarted, then it runs normal until defrost is switched on again & then it starts all over!!!!

... Well the wife’s ‘04 Sentra has the same defroster problem. The A/C pump will shut off when the blower fan is turned off but will restart if the fan is turned on. The only way to stop the process is to turn the ignition switch off and restart the engine.

We have not contacted the dealer about this.

It’s kindda like a Micro-Soft XP programmed computer.

Have a good one, and CUL.. Don S..

My frontier cycles on/off even with the fan switch shut off....as in another post I temporarily fixed problem by pulling the AC Compressor fuse in engine bay...but I know there will be a time I will want the dehumidifying aspect of the AC running but until then I will save some gas!

Yup yup they are engineered correctly, but my compressor is shot, and I just want to rip out all the a/c stuff anyway. :)

Hi all. My wife just got a used 01 Fronty club cab and was looking for a nice friendly forum..I came here looking for this truck was leaking water when I "thought " the AC was off and I was just blowing in fresh air. This post answered my search..My question is: Has anyone here done this and does everything work manually..We do often turn the ac on when defrosting during steamy thunderstorms..Thanks for responses and God Bless you....K
