Just bought an 02 Frontier XE with the 4cyl.  It has the auto tranny.  Everything I read says it has a 3500 lb tow rating WITH A MANUAL TRANNY.  What weight can I tow with auto tranny?  Are there any issues with the automatic transmission?  I live 1.2 miles from a gentle clean boat launch, boat weighs (checked on the cat scales) 1850 fully fueled and with toys and coolers.  The ramp has never been slimy or a problem.

This is my first post and I have not seen this topic in my searches.

dannyg here depending what boat you have I had a worn out yota 4 popper that towed a 18 foot bass boat fine the 1850 should be fine for short trips if your truck does not have a tranny cooler on get on

..

Yup!... Short hauls do not have the heat build-up and that helps the truck. In most cases the automatics have a higher rating. I think the clutches in the manuals are the weal link.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

Why did the U.S Government remove food and fuel from the inflation rate?... It sounds better at 4% … I think some of us know better!…
